VT Pride Readathon

June is Pride Month and VBS is teaming up with fifteen other Vermont Indie Bookstores for the Second Annual Pride Readathon! Join in the fun and help us raise money for Camp Outright, Vermont's only queer youth service organization and statewide advocacy center.

How does the readathon work, you ask? Good question! Anyone from the general public can join the Readathon by going to the Outright Vermont Fundraising page and signing up to participate. (It's a very easy site to navigate.) Participants will pledge to read X number of books by LGBTQ+ authors in the month of June and they will share that with their friends and family who can support their reading goals with a tax deductible, online donation. The donation will be made upfront.  There will also be an option to make a straight donation rather than "sponsoring" a reader. It's really a very simple process, with multiple ways to contribute and make a difference!

What should you read? Anything that celebrates LGBTQ+ author voices! The sky is the limit genrewise--Fantasy! Fiction! Memoir! Graphic Novel! Romance! Mystery! You name it.

Why books for pride? Because representation matters! And everyone deserves to see themselves in the stories that they love.

Will my contribution make a difference? Absolutely! Your support ensures no camper is turned away because of financial need. In addition, a generous donor has offered to match donations, dollar for dollar! Camp Outright is an important recipient because all kids deserve to have access to safe and inclusive spaces that support their self-discovery and inspire connection.
