Four poets will read from their recent works and then discuss their work and take questions from attendees. Poetry collections listed below.
- Penelope Cray was born in Australia and naturalized as a U.S. citizen on September 11, 2018. Her poems and short fiction have appeared in journals such as Harvard Review, New England Review, Bartleby Snopes, elimae, Pleiades, and American Letters & Commentary and in the anthology Please Do Not Remove. She holds an MFA from the New School and has been a fellow at the Vermont Studio Center. She lives with her family in northern Vermont, where she runs an editorial business.
- Benjamin Landry is the author of Particle and Wave, shortlisted for the Believer Poetry Award, and Burn Lyrics. His poems have appeared in the New Yorker, Ploughshares, American Poetry Review, Tin House, and elsewhere. He is visiting assistant professor of creative writing in poetry at SUNY-Potsdam.
- Rebecca Starks grew up in Louisville, Kentucky and earned a BA in English from Yale University and a PhD in English from Stanford University. She is the recipient of Rattle’s 2018 Neil Postman Award for Metaphor. Her poems and short fiction have appeared in Valparaiso Review, Baltimore Review, Crab Orchard Review, Ocean State Review, Tahoma Literary Review, Slice, and elsewhere. She lives in Richmond, Vermont.
- Julie Cadwallader Staub was born in Minneapolis. She graduated from Earlham College with a degree in religious studies, and earned a Masters in Social Work from Rutgers. Her poems have been featured on The Writer’s Almanac, published in journals, awarded grants and prizes, and included in several anthologies, notably Garrison Keillor’s Good Poems, and Poetry of Presence: An Anthology of Mindfulness Poems.
