Lorraine Besser - The Art of the Interesting launch party

Lorraine Besser, PhD is a philosopher, writer, and professor at Middlebury College, whose research focusses on the nature of happiness and well-being. She specializes in moral psychology, value theory, and the philosophy of David Hume. Her forthcoming book, The Art of the Interesting: What We Miss in Our Pursuit of the Good Life and How to Cultivate It identifies psychological richness as the critical component of a satisfying life. The book, which Middlebury College President Laurie Patton, a religion scholar and poet, called, "a readable, thoroughly enjoyable book," teaches the reader how to develop an interesting mindset, harness the power of novelty, and turn obstacles into adventures.

Vermont Book Shop will celebrate Professor Besser and the publication of her book on Tuesday, September 10, from 5:30-7:00pm. Lorraine will give a brief talk about her groundbreaking research and the book it inspired, then mingle and chat with friends, colleagues, and curious readers. We will have books available for sale and signing. Please join us!
