Katherine Arden | Small Spaces BOOK PARTY

Friday, October 26, 5 - 7 p.m.

Katherine Arden, author of the bestselling literary fantasy trilogy that began with The Bear and the Nightingale, debuts a brand-new and terrifically spooky middle grade ghost story, Small Spaces, perfect for readers aged 8-12!  This evening event will be an open house, with Arden signing books and meeting fans, party favors, treats and activities.

“Is it a mystery? A fairy tale? A horror thriller? As the suspense gripped me, I just wanted to know one thing—WHAT HAPPENS NEXT? Terrifying and fun.”

–R.L. Stine, author of Goosebumps and Fear Street

After suffering a tragic loss, eleven-year-old Ollie only finds solace in books. So when she happens upon a crazed woman at the river threatening to throw a book into the water, Ollie doesn't think--she just acts, stealing the book and running away. As she begins to read the slender volume, Ollie discovers a chilling story about a girl named Beth, the two brothers who both loved her, and a peculiar deal made with "the smiling man," a sinister specter who grants your most tightly held wish, but only for the ultimate price.

A deliciously creepy and hair-raising adventure begins.....

Katherine Arden deferred enrollment at Middlebury College for a year in order to live and study in Moscow. Once at Middlebury, she specialized in French and Russian literature, also taking eight months to study abroad in Paris and another eight months in Moscow. She received her Bachelor of Arts magna cum laude. Arden currently lives and writes in East Middlebury.
