Indies First!

You've heard of Record Store Day. You've heard of Free Comic Book Day. Now there's Indies First Day, also known as Small Business Saturday—the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Indies First Day is a nationwide celebration of independent bookstores like The Vermont Book Shop. It's a day to rally people to shop at local businesses. And this year local authors and artists are joining the Indies First movement to help support the community that the bookstore represents.

Hundreds of independent bookstores across the country will be hosting local authors and holding events on November 25. So show up!

SCHEDULE

11 a.m. - 1 p.m. John Vincent of A Revolutionary Press will be here with his press printing an exclusive Vermont Book Shop piece. See how the press operates and perhaps take a turn.

2 p.m. A Hound's Holiday is a picture-book ride down memory lane in a lovely snow-covered Vermont landscape.  Middlebury natives Kim Smith Spensley (author) and Heather Murray Bellanca (illustrator) will present their beautiful book. Vermont musician Steve Spensley will lead some play-party songs and games that would have been part of a family gathering in the late 1800s and early 1900s.
